Terms of Service
These terms apply to your use of the Software and the Service, defined below. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Definitions
- “the Software” means the open-source YadoriLink client software, licensed under MIT OR Apache-2.0 and governed by those licences.
- “the Service” means the hosted coordination service at
control.yadori.linkand the websiteyadori.link.
1. Operator
The Service is operated by an individual, Jumpei Takiyasu (“I”). Contact: me@juntaki.com. How personal information is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
2. What the Service is
The Software syncs folders between your own devices. Files are transferred between your authorised devices end-to-end encrypted; where a direct connection is not possible they pass through third-party encrypted relays (iroh public relays), which can see network metadata but not contents. The Service helps your devices find and authorize each other; it does not store your files. See the Privacy Policy for details.
3. Beta software
The Software and the Service are pre-1.0 beta. Features, interfaces, protocols and the Service can change, break or be discontinued at any time, with or without notice, and data format changes may require you to set things up again.
4. Your account
You sign in to the Service with a Google account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your devices secure. Tell me promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
5. Your files and backups
YadoriLink is a sync tool, not a backup. A deletion or change on one device is synced to others. Keep your own backups. You are responsible for your files and for the content you sync, and for having the right to sync and share it.
6. Acceptable use
In using the Service you must not:
- use the Service for unlawful content or activity, or to infringe the rights of others;
- abuse the Service or exceed or evade its rate limits and quotas, or interfere with its operation;
- circumvent the Service’s access controls without authorisation, or probe the Service to gain access to other people’s accounts, devices or data;
- use the Service to distribute malware or to attack others.
These restrictions apply to the hosted Service only. Analysing, modifying and redistributing the Software under its open-source licences is not prohibited, and neither is good-faith security research that follows SECURITY.md. Reporting vulnerabilities to me@juntaki.com is welcome.
7. Suspension, termination and device removal
You can remove devices, leave or delete folder groups, and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). I may limit, suspend or end your access to the Service, remove devices or delete accounts if you breach these terms, if needed to protect the Service or others, or if I end the Service. Folders already on your devices stay on your devices.
8. Software licences
The Software is open source and licensed under MIT or Apache-2.0, at your option (see the LICENSE-MIT and LICENSE-APACHE files in the repository). Those licences govern the Software itself. These terms govern use of the Service and do not limit your rights under those licences.
9. Disclaimer
During the beta, the Software and the Service are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, I give no warranty that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of data loss. This section does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded under section 10 or under applicable law.
10. Limitation of liability
This section does not limit liability where I acted intentionally or with gross negligence. Where I am liable for ordinary negligence, my liability is limited to ordinary and direct damages, up to an upper limit of JPY 10,000 in total. I am not liable for other damages (including indirect or consequential damages and loss of data, profits or business) caused by ordinary negligence. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
11. Changes to these terms
I will change these terms only to the extent necessary and reasonable. The changed text and its effective date are announced on this website before the effective date: at least 14 days before for material changes. If you continue to use the Service after the effective date, you accept the changed terms. If a material change is unfavourable to you, you may stop using the Service and delete your account instead (see the deletion procedure in the Privacy Policy).
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court has exclusive agreed jurisdiction as the court of first instance for disputes relating to the Service.
